Welcome! My name is Alex and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) at ARC. I bring to the therapy room over nine years of experience working with and supporting individuals and families in need. I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology (MCP) from Adler University, and I am a member in good standing with the BCACC. While I have called Vancouver home for many years, I am originally from Quebec, and I obtained my BA in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal.
I appreciate that each person’s journey through life is unique, and therefore my approach to counselling is primarily person-centred. I believe that authentic connection, empathy, and unconditional acceptance are essential in fostering the safety needed for healing to occur. My work in sessions is collaborative and trauma-informed, and I often draw on interventions and resources from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and meaning-making approaches.
As your therapist I will help you uncover and explore your inner resources, navigate challenges, and help you attain your goals. I will gently guide you in connecting with your inner voice, and in finding the path that feels right for you.
My own lived experience of raising two daughters as a single mother has given me a deep appreciation for the systemic and relational challenges we often face in life, and the importance of connecting with our inner strengths. I have a deep understanding of the importance of self-compassion, empowerment, relational support, and the strength that arises from vulnerability.
My counselling experience includes helping clients with:
- Grief & Loss
- Past Abuse
- Life Transitions
- Personal Growth
- Career Exploration
- Parenting Challenges
- Spirituality & Connection
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, including adults, youth, and children.
It would be an honour to help you live your most authentic story, and I look forward to hearing from you.
