Hi there and welcome to ARC : ) It’s important to find a counsellor who feels like the right fit, and I’m here to help you explore whether I might be that person for you.
My name is Iman – I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (MCP) from Adler University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with an Education Minor in Interpersonal Development from the University of British Columbia.
I was born and raised in Richmond, BC, and my path into counselling has always felt like a natural extension of who I am. As a second-generation Afghan immigrant, I’ve navigated the complexities of balancing cultural expectations, identity, resilience, and belonging. Throughout my life, I have been the person loved ones turned to during difficult times, and those experiences, along with my own personal challenges, have shaped my understanding of how vulnerable it can feel to ask for support. These moments taught me the value of compassion, steadiness, and having someone truly there to walk with you, which ultimately guided me into the counselling field.
Before entering private practice, I gained experience in community mental health settings, non-profit organizations, and as a crisis line responder, which shaped my belief in inclusive and culturally informed care. I work from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens and remain mindful of the diverse identities, histories and social contexts that shape each person’s experiences.
In terms of my practice, I am trained to draw on a person-centred approach, while also incorporating evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Mindfulness-Based approaches, among others, tailoring each session to your unique needs. My style is collaborative, warm, and grounded in the belief that therapy is a partnership. I strive to create a space where you feel safe exploring your thoughts, reactions, and patterns, while also supporting you in developing insight, resilience and practical strategies for meaningful change.
I can support you with:
- Anxiety
- Stress and Burnout
- Depression and Low Mood
- Life Transitions
- Relationships Challenges and Communication
- Self-Esteem and Confidence
- Personal Growth
- Grief and Loss
- Trauma
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe that healing and growth can only happen when you feel heard and supported, so we will move at a pace that feels right for you. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you can reconnect with yourself, explore new possibilities, and develop deeper insight and resilience.
Outside of work, I enjoy learning about history, exploring new cafes and restaurants, and spending quality time with my friends, family, and partner. I also love travelling and discovering new cultures. These interests help me stay grounded and curious, and they bring greater joy and perspective into both my life and my practice.
If you feel drawn to working together, I’d be honoured to support you. Feel free to reach out using the form below so we can explore what brings you to counselling and whether we might be a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you.
