A warm welcome to ARC : ) My name is Yasmeen (she/her). Drawn by the mountains and magic of nature on the West Coast, I found my way here after completing my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto.
I offer a warm, accepting space, allowing you to arrive just as you are. From there, we can explore what may feel stuck, tender, or ready to shift. My approach is informed by neuroscience and considers how our experiences can shape the brain, nervous system, and body. I’m committed to moving at a pace that feels right for you. In practice, I support people in gently tuning into the body, creating space to discover new ways of relating and responding that feel more aligned and sustainable.
I offer support with:
- Emotional dysregulation
- Anxiety and overwhelm
- ADHD
- Attachment and relational injury
- High sensitivity
- Perfectionism
- Substance use
- Processing traumatic experiences
- Support with integrating non-ordinary experiences
- Familial mental health and/or addictions
- Grief and loss
I have completed an additional two-year specialized training program in Somatic Attachment Therapy, an approach that integrates attachment theory with nervous system regulation and body-based processing. In my practice, I also draw from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches.
As a second-generation Egyptian Canadian raised in small-town Ontario, I also bring lived insight into navigating cultural identity, belonging, and the stigma that can sometimes make it difficult to speak openly about mental health or reach out for support. I’ve been through experiences that were difficult to process in the moment, and I understand how hard it can be to let warmth in. Reconnecting with my body’s natural rhythms has helped me access an inner wisdom that I believe we all carry. Through this, I’ve found a deeper sense of safety and regulation within myself and in connection with others.
Through my work in community mental health and addictions, I’ve been privileged to support people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and across the wider community as they navigate the many twists and turns of life. Outside of work, you’ll often find me exploring the local mountains on foot, mountain biking, or snowboarding. I also value sharing quality time and laughter with loved ones. I believe healing can extend into the relationships and environments we are all part of, and I bring this curiosity into the therapy space.
If this resonates, I encourage you to reach out. Being on this path takes courage, and I look forward to meeting you where you are.
