Hello! My name is Euphemia and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology (MEd) from UBC. I also hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd) from UBC and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Emily Carr. I was born and raised in Vancouver, but spent many years in the Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Island. I now live in downtown Vancouver with my two teenage boys, my dog, a blue heeler named Aurora, and my tabby cat, Frankie.
Before entering the counselling profession, I spent a decade working as an art teacher. During this time I discovered that art can be an incredible vehicle to express one’s feelings, connect with others, and talk openly. This experience drew me towards pursuing counselling, and I believe that the most important part of creating change is fostering a strong therapeutic alliance. I consider myself a person-centered teacher and counsellor, viewing everyone I work with as a unique individual, holding them in unconditional positive regard.
I work from a variety of theoretical orientations depending on each person’s needs, drawing on Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), existentialism, intersectional feminism, EMDR, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I enjoy working with people from a variety of age groups, diverse backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
Issues I am experienced working with include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Childhood trauma
- Relationships
- Self-Esteem
- Career counselling
- Life transitions
- Parenting and co-parenting
- Stress/ burnout
- Sleep hygiene
It’s important to me to create a safe space for you to be vulnerable, to see sensitivity as a superpower, and to provide new tools and perspectives to help you with life’s challenges. I am also passionate about parenting and relationship issues, as I have personal experience in navigating co-parenting dynamics and relationships. I know that there are many ways to create harmony in relationships, and I enjoy supporting people as they move through the less traditional path of today’s modern family.
I believe the unprecedented challenges we face in today’s world add an extra layer of anxiety to our day-to-day lives, and it’s more important than ever that we support each other to avoid burning out. I know from my own therapeutic work that having a place to feel heard, validated, and work through past trauma, is incredibly healing.
If you are interested in connecting with me or working together, please use the form below to set up an appointment. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in the best way possible.
