Welcome to ARC and thanks for stopping by! My name is Alyssa and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from SFU and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Adler University. My passion for learning has led me back to Adler University where I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D).
While I was born and raised in Vancouver, I find myself drawn to learning about different cultures through food, travel, music, and community events. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a counsellor is having the opportunity to work with people who have led diverse and unique lives. Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting adults, youth, and children who have experienced an array of mental health concerns.
I am passionate about seeing people grow and create the healthy and rewarding lives they want to live. I believe that individuals are the experts of their own lives, and that the counselling relationship works best when collaborative and rooted in trust and respect. I also believe that we, as humans, create meaning from our relationships with others, and that these connections can have a profound impact on who we are.
While I practice primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) lens, I also incorporate Attachment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy when appropriate. I think it is important to be flexible and to tailor services in a way that meet your individual needs. Clients I’ve worked with have described me as warm, non-judgmental, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to.
Areas I can support you with include:
- Stress and Burnout
- School and Workplace Challenges
- Life Transitions
On my spare time, you can usually find me enjoying nature, exercising, cooking, reading, and exploring new places with family and friends. One of my favourite things to do is go hiking with my husband. I continue to be so fascinated by and thankful for the local wildlife and stunning landscapes of this unceded land we call “home.”
If you think we could be a good fit, I invite you to contact me by filling out the form below. I look forward to helping you begin your counselling journey.
